Hong Kong bowler denied second tour title

8th December, Riyadh: 2012 ABF Tour Macau champion, Rickle Kam of Hong Kong was denied his second tour title after losing to Ryan Lalisang of Indonesia, 232-278 in the final of the ABF Tour Saudi 2015.

Lalisang also had an easy victory over another Hong Kong national bowler, Eric Tseng 265-224 in the first semi-final match while Kam edged reigning QubicaAMF World Cup champion, Wu Siu Hong, 192-188 in the other all-Hong Kong semi.

Both title contenders had a double strike in the first two frames of the title match but it was the Indonesian who was on a hot streak, reeling in seven more strikes thereafter.

After a spare in the third frame, Kam also went on a strikefest rolling five consecutive strikes. A split in the ninth frame ended any hope for Kam with Lalisang winning comfortably to win his third tout title this year.

The champion won his first title in Kuwait back in March and his second on home soil Jakarta in October making him the first Asian to capture three tout titles in the same year. Lalisang defeated another Hong Kong national bowler, Lau Kwun Ho, 239-216 in the second round. He dispatched Fahad Al-Reghab of Kuwait, 206-161 in the opening round.

The first runner-up won his opening match, 222-212 against Bader Al-Shaikh of Saudi Arabia before edging Mohammed Janahi of Bahrain, 217-205 to reach the semi-final. Lalisang picked up US$1,000 and a trophy as champion, which was presented by Sheikh Talal Al-Sabah, President of Asian Bowling Federation.

The ABF Tour Saudi is the final leg for this year and Lalisang's victory took him to the top of the rankings with 245 points. Macau leg champion, Michael Mak of Hong Kong slipped to second with 203 points whie Thailand leg champion, Lee Tak Man of Macau rounded out the top three with 197 points.

Thailand's Yannaphon Larpaharat, who lost his match in Round 1, was the highest loser to earn 20 points for a total of 91 points, enough to make the cut in 16th position. Hussian Al Suwaidi of UAE was knocked out to end in 17th position on 90 points.

The top 16 men and top 16 women qualified for the ABF Tour Tournament of Champions, which is scheduled to be contested in Kuwait next March.
