Indonesian Asian champion triumphs

15th March, Kuwait: 2015 Asian Championships Masters gold medalist, Ryan Lalisang of Indonesia out-classed Kuwaiti hopeful, Aseel Al Roomi, 267-179 in the finals of the ABF Tour Kuwait 2015 to win his fourth tour title.

The champion sailed past Mohammed Janahi of Bahrain, 220-186 in the first semi-final match to reach the finals while Aseel edged 2014 Asia Ranked No. 1, Shaker Al Hassan of UAE, 225-212 to face the Indonesian.

Both title contenders had a good start with a double in their first two frames. Aseel missed a single pin spare in his third as Lalisang downed another double in the third and fourth frames.

The 19-year-old Kuwaiti then stumbled to a 7-pin split in the fourth frame in which he failed to spare while the Indonesian spared both his next two frames and followed it up with two more strikes.

A second split from Aseel decided the outcome of the match very much in favour of Lalisang, who went on to rolled three more strikes to end with 267 to Aseel's 179 for the title. Lalisang averaged an impressive 241.75 over the four matches to win his fourth tour title and picked up US$1,000.

The champion had a convincing victory over Ayad Al Ameeri of Kuwait, 222-172 in the opening round before a narrow win over Yousef Al-Jaber of Qatar, 258-240 in Round 2 to make the semis.

Aseel won his opening round match 194-167 against Mansour Al Hajri of Qatar before taking a lucky victory in the second round over Hussain A Suwaidi of UAE in a low-scoring 167-164 to advance to the semi.

Salem Al Hajras of Kuwait shot the highest game of the leg when he defeated compatriot, Ebrahim Al Jadi, 268-236 in the opening round. Michael Mak of Hong Kong crashed out in the opening round to Hussain Al Suwaidi, 191-245.

Sheikh Talal M. Al-Sabah, President of Asian Bowling Federation and Kuwait Bowling Federation, presented the trophy and prize to Lalisang.

Prizes of US$1,000 will be awarded to the men's champion and US$500 to the women champion where there is women division. The next stop will be the ABF Tour Thailand 2015 which will be held on April 17 after the conclusion of the 41st MWA Thailand International Open from April 10 to 16, 2015.
