2019 Hong Kong 9th Asia Pacific Deaf Games
Introduction

Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress (HKTBC) is pleased to announce that the Tenpin Bowling event of the 2019 Hong Kong 9th Asia Pacific Deaf Games (APDG) will be held at the South China Athletic Association from November 5 to 11, 2019.

The Asia Pacific Deaf Games (APDG) is the largest sporting event held for deaf athletes in the Asia Pacific Region.

Held once every four years and sanctioned by the Asia Pacific Deaf Sports Confederation, the Asia Pacific Deaf Games are NOT part of the Asian Para Games; starting in 1997, the Deaflympics were removed from the Paralympics and held independently because deaf athletes are recognized as not having mobility issues or any form of physical disability.

The first iteration of the Asia Pacific Deaf Games started as the Asia Pacific Deaf Football Championships, held in Hong Kong in 1984. Hong Kong is a very proud host for the upcoming 9th Asia Pacific Deaf Games because of the legacy of the competition - this will be the first time Hong Kong will host the Games again in the 35 years since its inception.

The Asia Pacific Deaf Games have continued to expand in terms of scale, number of participants and number of events since 1988 APDG held in Seoul, Korea. Since then, the Games have been held every 4 years and have been a steady mark of deaf sporting excellence. The 2019 version of the Games will boast the most participants and highest number of participating countries in APDG history, and surely be one to remember.
