Demise of Asian Games Gold Medalist Cathrine Che

10th May, Hong Kong: It is with great sorrow that Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress announces the demise of our Asian Games Gold Medalist, Ms. Cathrine Che Kuk Hung on May 10, 2021. She was 69 years of age.

Cathrine achieved a Gold Medal in the Singles Event in Bowling in the 1986 Seoul Asian Games in Korea attaining the "First Gold" for Hong Kong in the Asian Games.

She also won a Silver Medal in the Women Masters Event in the same Games bringing honour for Hong Kong and the sport of tenpin bowling.

Back in 1978 in the Bangkok Asian Games in Thailand, Cathrine won 2 bronze medals in the Women Singles Event and Women Trios Event respectively.

In 1995 Cathrine also clinched a Bronze Medal in the Women Singles Event in the World Championships in Reno, USA.

After her retirement, Cathrine continued to promote the sport of bowling and showed much interest and concern in the achievements of our elite athletes.

She moved back from Canada to Hong Kong three years ago. Unfortunately, she has been suffering from underlying illness for more than 10 years and passed away yesterday morning.
