8th July, Hong Kong, China: Second-seed, Lucio Marcelino Chiu of Macau and third-seed, Dylan Lam Nok Him of Hong Kong bagged the U22 Division and U18 Division Masters titles of the U22 Hong Kong Storm Cup 2025 just concluded at Top Bowl on Tuesday.
Chiu and 4th-seed, Amen Yuen Cheuk Hin of Hong Kong went on a ding-dong battle in the U22 title match, reeling ten consecutive strikes each to force a one-ball tie-breaker. Both struck in their first ball and needed a second ball. Chiu struck first and Yuen missed the head pin altogether for a six-pin count handing the title to Chui.
Chiu advanced to the title match after dispatching 11th-seed, Jovi Ma Ka Yin of Hong Kong, 278-256 in the second semi-final match while Yuen edged twice perfect gamer and newly-crowned U15 Division champion, Ethan Leung Chun Yu of Hong Kong, 246-236 to face the Macau youth.
The champion had sailed past 15th-seed, Huang Yi An of Chinese Taipei, 289-276 in Round 1 before beating another Taiwanese, Lan Shao Kang 276-247 in Round 2 to book his place in the semi-finals. Chiu took home the top prize of HK$15,800 (approx. US$2,00).
Yuen settled for HK$7,900 as first runner-up with Ma and Leung earning HK$3,555 each as third and fourth runners-up. The top 4 winners were also awarded a Storm bowling ball and 3-ball bag each.
Meanwhile, top qualifier, Dylan Lam easily defeated 9th-seed, Julian Ho of Hong Kong, 256-220 in the all-Hong Kong U18 title match to emerged as champion. Lam had earlier defeated 10th-seed and compatriot, Yip Chun Yin, 234-196 in the second semi-final match.
Ho breezed past 5th-seed, Sun Lu Ming of China, 276-256 in the first semi-finals to face Lam. Seeded third, Lam easily beat 14th-seed, Tian Qi Rui of China, 223-157 in Round 1 finals and a second Chinese, Ocean Yeung Yat Long, 278-245 in Round 2 to book his spot in the semis.
Lam picked up HK$7,900 (approx. US$1,000) as champion. Ho settled for HK$4,700 as first runner-up while Sun and Yip took home HK$1,185 each as second and third runners-up. The top 4 winners were also awarded a Storm bowling ball and bag each.
Ethan Leung won the U15 Division title and earned HK$1,580 during the two blocks of the two days of qualifying. Lee Cheuk Him also earned HK$1,580 as first runner-up while Yip Chun Yin took home HK$790 as second runner-up.
A total of 75 youths in the U18 Division, 66 youths in the U22 Division and 48 youths in the U15 Division competed in this year's U22 Hong Kong Storm Cup 2025 at Top Bowl, Kai Tak Sports Park, Kowloon. Mr Robert Dong, distributor of Storm Products in Asia, Ms Vivien Lau, SBS, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong China Tenpin Bowling Congress were on hand to present the prizes to all the winners.
The next stop for the youths will be at the U22 8th Fukuoka Summer Cup 2025 sponsored by Storm in Fukuoka, Japan from August 6 to 8 and the 25th MILO Storm U22 International All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia from December 8 to 14, 2025.
